MCAT® FEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR CANADIANS

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) are piloting a new fee assistance program for Canadian examinees in financial need who register for the Medical College Admission Test® (MCAT®) during the 2018 testing year.

The Medical College Admission Test® (MCAT®), developed and administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), is a computer-based standardized examination for prospective medical students in the United States and Canada. It is designed to assess problem solving, critical thinking, and knowledge of natural, behavioural, and social science concepts and principles prerequisite to the study of medicine. Find out which Canadian Faculties of Medicine require the test as part of their admission requirements at Admission Requirements of Canadian Faculties of Medicine.

In order to support an increasingly diverse physician workforce, the AAMC is committed to providing support to Canadian students who would be unable to take the MCAT without financial assistance. To do this, the AAMC and the AFMC are piloting a fee assistance program for Canadian examinees who register for the MCAT during the 2018 testing year. Canadian examinees will be able to register for an MCAT exam date through this pilot fee assistance program beginning on February 1, 2018. During the pilot year, approximately 700 awards will be provided to Canadian examinees in financial need.

Canadian fee assistance applicants who qualify will receive reduced scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation rates for the 2018 and 2019 testing years. Visit the AAMC website for full details.

To learn more about the eligibility criteria, the application process and deadlines, please see the MCAT Fee Assistance Program (FAP) for Canadians Application Guide.

EXTENDED DEADLINE: Students may apply until January 3, 2018, 9:00 a.m. ET. Apply at the AFMC Student Portal website.

Please be aware that you must be approved for the Fee Assistance Program prior to registering for the MCAT exam to receive the reduced MCAT registration fees. AFMC will review applications, determine eligibility for financial assistance, and notify awardees. Please note that benefits are not retroactive and you must be approved before scheduling, rescheduling, or canceling your MCAT exam. Please note, the AAMC and AFMC reserve the right to discontinue the program after the pilot year.
